Teaching a Geometry UnitThis course presents a standards-based geometry unit and helps teachers understand why geometry is an important topic in the elementary mathematics curriculum. The course engages teachers in hands-on investigations of two-dimensional shapes and their properties and introduces activities that build spatial understanding. Participants learn how to introduce geometry terminology in the contexts of problem-solving lessons and how to help students explore relationships between and among shapes.
