Math Common Core Quick Start Series™This series introduces educators to the central ideas embodied in the Standards for Mathematical Practice—the most advanced and innovative thinking on how all students should interact with math content to master essential skills and their underlying concepts. We align what educators already know with what they need to learn about developing expertise in the "processes and proficiencies" outlined in the practices.

Making Sense of Math A Focus on Reasoning and Discourse This full day course provides teachers with a deeper understanding of why and how students should expect mathematics to make sense, along with the role of discourse to support deeper understanding. Includes a Participant Guide.

- Select and adjust mathematical tasks and questions to promote and assess deeper levels of student understanding and thinking

Problem Solving A Focus on Developing Students' Disposition, Competence, and Confidence This full day course provides math teachers with a deeper look at building perseverance in problem-solving and applying mathematics to everyday situations. Participants will learn strategies to structure problem solving lessons that build a bridge for all students to solve problems. Includes a Participant Guide.

This course will enable participants to:
- Create a classroom environment that promotes confidence and perseverance as students pursue mathematical understanding
- Engage students in straightforward and complex problems that require application of recently learned mathematics
- Challenge students with complex problems that require critical thinking and connections across multiple mathematical concepts, skills, and ideas

Unpacking Common Core Content—Priority StandardsThese courses build grade-level understanding of priority domains. Participants learn how to plan effective instruction that meets the level of rigor called for in the Common Core. In these multi-day courses, participants unpack the Common Core content and integrate the Mathematical Practices in an engaging and relevant hands-on exploration of the mathematics standards.
Grades K–2: Number & Operations—Base Ten This three-day course focuses on the priority domains of Number and Operations in Base Ten and Operations and Algebraic Thinking for students in Grades K–2. The emphasis of the course is on building understanding of the role of place value and properties of operations in the primary grades as well as the focus on coherence across the grades that is an integral aspect of the Common Core.
This course will enable participants to:
- Learn the content of the Common Core State Standards of Number and Operations in Base Ten and Operations and Algebraic Thinking at grades K through 2
- Familiarize themselves with the Common Core State Standards of Number and Operations in Base Ten and Operations and Algebraic Thinking in the Intermediate grades
- Understand the complex nature of the base-ten number system with the purpose of supporting all learners as children develop concepts and internalize the intricacies of our numeration system
- Describe the interconnectedness of place value and the base-ten number system to operations and algebraic thinking

Grades 3–5: Number & Operations—Fractions This three-day course focuses on the priority domain of Number and Operations—Fractions for students in Grades 3–5. Grades 6–8: Ratios & Proportional Reasoning This three-day course explores proportionality, proportional relationships, and proportional reasoning, acknowledging that the ability to reason proportionally is at the forefront of the middle school mathematics curriculum. The course addresses the CCSS standards for ratios and proportional relationships in the middle grades and supports teachers with strategies to help make the standards accessible to all students.
This course will enable participants to:
- Learn the content of the Common Core State Standards of Ratios and Proportional Relationships for grades 6 and 7 and establish connections to Expressions and Equations for grades 6–8
- Examine problem-solving activities and investigations that develop proportional reasoning

Differentiating Common Core Mathematics InstructionThis two-day course helps teachers understand what it means to support all students by differentiating three aspects of the math curriculum—content, process, and product. Teachers examine a variety of approaches that help them make instructional adjustments to content, provide activities that address how different students learn, and offer a variety of ways for students to demonstrate what they've learned.

Math Reasoning Inventory™ for School and District Leaders This full-day course introduces school and district leaders to the theory, structure and focus of the online formative assessment tool. Participants explore ways to evaluate students' numerical reasoning relative to the processes and proficiencies in the Standards for Mathematical Practices. Participants will learn to view school or district-wide data and generate reports. Includes MRI Tier 1 Manager Subscription.

This course will enable leaders to:
